Weifang kites are Shandong traditional handicraft treasures and part of folk traditional festival culture. As an intangible cultural heritage, now more than 70% of the world's kites are exported from Weifang. In May 2006, the Weifang kite was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists. The conference headquarters of the "International Kite Federation" is also set in Weifang. Now Weifang has become the center of kite culture exchange in the world.
